Henry Gaffney - If Only the Weather Would Change (1976): A truly great, yet totally forgotten artist and album. It's a fascinating showcase of wildly eclectic and defiantly unique creativity. Evoking Harry Nilsson and Van Dyke Parks, it must have sounded quite anachronistic in 1976.

Evergreen High School Instrumental Department - Scorpio (1973): An untamed and face-melting take on the Dennis Coffey funk classic. These kids are really letting their freak flags fly and unleashing some absolutely raw, punk-rock, emotional energy on this one. 100% mind blower.

The Fenders - Take Me Like I Am (1969)(roughly): More raw, powerful, passionate garage-country from this incredible Navajo band out of New Mexico. They were one of the first "Chapterhouse Bands" (the first generation of Navajo bands to play popular music).

Cletus - Should I Give It Up (1978): Another wonderful gift from the wildly eclectic mind of Cletus Black. This one is from his excellent debut album. To my ears, his music has a truly timeless quality.

The Heckels - Folsom Prison Blues (1972):I guess this could be considered the 'novelty' song on this wonderful record, but I think the 11-year-old J-Bird Heckel creates something beautiful and ethereal from this Johnny Cash classic.

The Gowana Chorus - The Salt Of The Earth (1982): School bands almost never did Rolling Stones songs. I guess they were considered a little too disreputable for the kids. Which makes this incredible version of one of the Stones best 'deep cuts' even more remarkable.

Renton High School Swing Choir - Light My Fire (1970)(roughly): A lot of school bands tackled this classic by The Doors with mixed results. The cheese can often overwhelm. This is one of my favorite versions. It has so much raw energy and is properly psychedelic in its own way.

THE GIRLS AT CARDINAL STRITCH COLLEGE - MY UNREALITY/ SEARCHIN' (1969): A truly sublime album that was totally written, composed and produced by the students. The concept of the record was for the girls to explore the concept of 'life' through song and poetry. It's such a fascinating time capsule.

The Decibels - Freddie Is Dead (1973)(roughly): This one is another fantastic submission to my channel. I give huge thanks to Chris (aka DJ Earth Tones) for sending it my way. Mesmerizingly shambolic, wonderfully raw, and beautifully freaked-out. Super wild!

Grover Park High School Chorus Music - Ascensions (1976): When people think of 'high school records', they usually only think of either lo-fi funk or cover versions of popular hits. What they don't think of is mind-blowing, cosmic, psychedelic, experimental, electronic choral music.

Unknown Artist - Baretta's Theme (1976): A version so ultra-smooth and slick that it's hard to believe it's from a knock off, budget compilation. I'd honestly say that I prefer this to the original. All of the soul and funk songs on this album are incredible.

Made in Brasil - Reza [Brazil, Tropicalia](1975): An absolutely scorching, psychedelic monster of a take on this Brazilian classic. This epic and ambitious version builds to a well-deserved, wild and trippy freakout. Pure, uncut fire.

Rebecca Valrejean - Colours [USA, Psyche,Folk](1977): Happy New Year to all! Let's celebrate with this epic and unique take on the Donovan classic. Here it becomes a heavy (but still delicate) psychedelic mantra. Nothing but good, righteous vibes for the coming year.

The Green Vale School Special Group - Heart of Gold / Old Man: Happy Holidays to all! Here are a couple of Neil Young songs from this amazing school record for your festive pleasure. And these are both very magical indeed. Truly like a dream within a dream.

Capital University Jazz Rock Ensemble - Framus Gramus (1972), Fu: A really fantastic and funky track from a really great, funky record. For those who search out 'breaks', this song is absolutely saturated in them. I have no idea if this track is an original as there are no credits.

Bellport High School Rock Ensemble - It Better End Soon: A monstrously groovy and psychedelic jammer that builds to a wild, shredding, guitar freakout. It was written by the band's flute player, Joie Travis, so not surprisingly, their wonderful playing is at the forefront throughout. Far out!

Algonquin Junior High School Band - Beatles Medley (1972) : There is something really beautiful and strangely moving about this. Many school bands did many different Beatles medleys, but for me, this one really stands out.
