What's the difference between modern US and European manufactured Airplanes? The European ones still call you **"R E T A R D"**

"Don't talk to the police" auf Österreichisch/EU: viele hier sind sich nicht bewusst dass unbedacht mit der Polizei zu reden heftige Konsequenzen haben kann, auch für Unschuldige. -- ich hab die bekannteste US Vorlesung dazu in ein Recht-sub gefüttert um es für euch zugänglicher zu machen:

LM317 Laser constant current source alternatives (DIY), any suggestions for a noob? The LM seems very inefficient, but I have no experience with other designs (I've built a constant current source with transistors once, that's about it. I guess PWM would be a way to build a more efficient driver?)

Am Wochenende Öffis fahren ist immer geil. Wo Schamgefühl? 💀😂 (Vogelhaus und Erbrochenes nur 2m voneinander entfernt)

I once misheard "Dirac" as "The Rock" and now I can't undo this f-ed up circuit in my brain. Now I'm sharing this memory cancer with you:

As the optical path of drives already has a diffraction grating in it, why not add another 3 diffraction gratings for more diffraction grating?

Stress testing burner diodes and my DIY driver. The red diode burns thin trash bag plastics without breaking a sweat (it's not even getting warm), but the LM317 heats up despite the aluminum cooling chunk it's mounted to. But hey, at least it seems to stop killing lasers since I added a rev. diode;)
Interference/Diffraction pattern of DVD (red) and CD (IR, filter removed to record) burners when you remove the extreme focus lens at the end to get a near parallel beam. Idk if they just "happen" because of all the beam splitters and dichroic mirrors linking the beams with the photo diodes, or if..

I made the most useless but kinda cool thing yesterday; a blue 400-450 nm 50 mW focusable Laser with a USB port, so you can damage your eyes everywhere: phone charger? Laptop? Phone with USB C->A? No problem, burn out your retina wherever and whenever! (+ 2 diffraction gratings top on top look dope)
A lesson in visibility of different wavelengths: the camera skews what's actually visible, but the first and the second are equal to the eye, 5mW 532nm might even be more potent. I doubted this 50mW 400-450nm I rigged together with a power source today, but after focusing it on a darker skin spot...

I have this old silver pocket watch, works perfectly (but needs a clean) but I don't know anything about it. What is it, is it valuable, and what's the story behind the maker?

Look what a neat old harmonic oscillator I got :)

LM317 non-shitty current source: possible? Until I find a better more efficient option, please tell me your thoughts about these various designs and what you'd change

Short update: the lasers and also IR enabled cam works again (somewhat), see how the red one does nothing really useful while IR shows some pretty fine details despite being so underpowered
@Mods: PLEASE activate picture upload in comments. It's only a flick of a single switch, and it's so neat to just directly comment a visible pic showing XYZ (my new diode cooling solution or whatever) instead of finding a sketchy third party filehoster, upload it and then have only a blue link shown

I'm so sorry, my paranoia that I killed so many diodes because of all those shitty LM317 drivers flooding the net + the dots appearing exactly after a major cable cross that melted shit made me go full crisis that I killed my last favorite diode type - and y'all know how much I care for this project
My LM317 drivers keep killing diodes despite conservative currents (max 125 mA for burners, now only half but it still killed both, the barely used IR and the often used red one)

I removed the infrared filter from an old phones camera. The stove is completely cold, that's just IR radiation!

Building Powerbanks out of old Laptop batteries? The charging management circuit is there, I'm just not sure what would be necessary to add to make a Powerbank, do you?

DVD vs CD burner diode through camera with IR filter removed. See despite the low power testing setup (125 mA) how transparent my fingers are under IR (second diode). Sorry for the specs, didn't think of cleaning the sensor and lenses after removing the filter.

If you're messing with IR lasers I have a treat for you. I took an old ass Smartphone (Xperia Z1 Compact) and removed the IR filter from the back cam, this is just me turning on my kitchen stove for a second, way before you'd even feel the warmth
For your personal pleasure: double diode action in a single housing. Red and IR driven at about 125 mA (for safety before I know what they can actually handle)

My project takes form: the first diodes getting driven (forgive the flickering, I'm still using a breadboard and connect manually)
