Now I just want a plain old Donaldizer…

Which Bowie song would save your life??

Random selection. What do you love? What do you not love?

Which IS it? And why?

This song has become a virtual aural obsession for me. Thank Dear God McDonalds didn’t use it to sell burgers. So why is it so very very addictive? (I’m referring to the track, not the fast food…)

Why was the superb Right Back Here In My Arms not released as a single off Emancipation? So much more powerful than Somebody’s Somebody or Betcha By Golly Wow. His vocal performance is so searing and direct.

‘…to wrangle some screams from the dawn…’ Bowie lyrical brilliance, never greater than on this album

These two albums. If you haven’t heard them I almost envy you for what you are about to receive. The very best that English songwriting has to offer. Save perhaps The Beatles…

Got back from Lords (very pastoral/very Partridge) to listen to these two CDs. On repeat as usual. Never get tired of a single track

Saw this and felt I had to post it here. Intense group mixing sessions are lost in a world of automation & plugins!

Been around 8 months since I posted this. So if any of you fancy a quick Dan quiz?

There’s an argument to say that Razor Boy was the track that most defined SD’s songwriting to come (at least according to Vic Feldman)

For those curious about how the music theory behind Ashes To Ashes works

Here’s my piano & music theory breakdown of Any Major Dude Will Tell You. Playing & analysing it made me love it even more. Hope you get something out of it.

Is Black Sweat Prince’s Kiss MkII? How could it NOT be?

In process of recording my YouTube piano breakdown of Any Major Dude Will Tell You. Was Pretzel Logic’s extruded gatefold photo Rubber Soul inspired?

Completely forgot I had this. What a surprise. Was behind various other CDs. It’s as if I’d hidden it for myself to discover later…

I see that virtuoso wunderkind Jacob Collier is an XTC fan. Here he is performing River Of Orchids in a sterile but accurately scored cover. This vaguely cultish figure would do well to learn from Andy’s songwriting if he is to write original and credible music himself…

I love and value this CD beyond words!

CTE just feels (and yes, sounds) so different on CD

My David Bowie LP! Was only £2.99 in Loppylugs, Edgware, North London in 1981. That’s £2.98 more than you’ll pay for it now…Insane.

Bowie breakdown!

Lolita. Just love this track. As so often, it’s about unadulterated lust - & Prince’s superb sense of humour! ‘You’re tryin’ to write cheques your body can’t cash!’

Getting serious GAS off the new Korg Multipoly…tell me I’m wrong!

For those who love Bowie - and music theory!

Here’s a section of my CD collection. Anything stand out for any of you? I just came across this sub - love it!

This shows just what a songwriting genius George was. Careless Whisper has 11 different melodic themes - all in just the one song. I demonstrate on piano. Hope you get something out of it x
