Leaving the lights on 14 hours a day. Is it ok if I did that dimming the lights all the way down to 6% the last 3 hours? ( dim from 7pm- 11pm) when it goes off Completely. I just enjoy watching the tank at night. I only have the lights on 50% max from 9am to 7pm.
Green algae on sand substrate almost in real time. I just vacuum cleaned the substrate about 5 hours ago and I am already seeing patches of green colorations on the sand. Why is this? I am already using a submerged UV light

What type of fish is this? They are overly active dashing all over my tank killing my plants and digging into the substrate. I got them as a cleaning crew but now I’m thinking the bring more headache than help to my tank. Thinking of going with a pleco instead.

Update on my DIY Rimless. Those of you who saw my earlier post already know the story. I picked up my glass Tuesday and installed. The tank is now up and running the last two days with no bow. I also modified my lily pipe to extend it another 10 inches since my tank is deeper.

Back for another round. So I opened a thread yesterday talking about my first try at aquascaping and how I removed my rims off my 55 gallon. Needless to say I got so many comments from you guys about how unsafe it was almost to the point it got troll worthy. I had to take the post down. Update

55 gallon Aquascape. My first try. I peeled off the rims off the tank and drilled holes on the side of the stand to pass the tubing thru the side. I retro fitted my plant Fluval light to a mounted pipe. Still waiting to introduce my fishes once the tank settles
