Blackburn Shark III May 1939 Jericho Beach Vancouver BC. Crashed at Alliford Bay, BC on July 19, 1940, when landing the glassy water. The RCAF bought 9 already obsolete Sharks from the UK in 1938. 17 more built in Canada by Boeing. 525 was UK built. Used for coastal patrols on Canada's west coast.

B-17F Flying Fortress “Cap'n and the Kids” had 84 missions to its credit. It knocked off 10 Zeroes and 8 enemy ships. In an amazing career, it had had two of its engines shot out, its hydraulic system shattered, its tail shot away and multiple holes blasted in its wings.

French Friday: Wibault 74 The Aéronautique Navale used it as an advanced carrier trainer until 1940. Despite being considered slow and outdated by the late 1930s, its "parasol" monoplane design, provided pilots with excellent visibility for carrier landings.

19-Apr-1945, a Spanish Air Force Bf-109E flies for the 1st time with a Hispano Suiza Z-89 engine, 1400HP. The Spanish pilot, a veteran of the Eastern Front, confirmed the fighter performance improved by a good margin. Problems to mass produce the engine halted the project, installing a Merlin later.
